Kimi K3 Released: Moonshot's 2.8T Open-Weight Model Is Live

On July 16, 2026, Moonshot AI released Kimi K3, a Mixture-of-Experts model with a reported 2.8 trillion total parameters and a 1,000,000-token context window. It is available now through the Kimi app, Kimi Work, Kimi Code, and the Kimi API.

Why it matters

K3 is described as the world's first open model in the 3-trillion-parameter class. On the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index it scores about 57, placing fourth among 189 models, and it ranks first on arena.ai's Code WebDev leaderboard.
